Successful premiere

Philip Geipel and Katrin Becker-Brugger finish 4th place in the "Rally Around the Sulinger Bärenklaue".

For the team around Kahle Motorsport, the 4th weekend of the German Rally Championship was a rollercoaster of emotions. Already after the first kilometers on the shakedown a fast disillusionment set in. The grip level, the braking power and the feeling to the driver were upgradeable. So the marathon started to work out the perfect setup.

The changing weather made Friday a challenge. The lack of knowledge of Philip Geipel regarding the right tire choice, and the confidence in man and machine after the Stemwede accident did not make the task any easier.

At the end of the first day, they were on a conciliatory 7th place in the strong Division 1 with 12 cars. "It was a difficult day; the greasy conditions were not easy and I still lack confidence in the car. We still have a lot of work ahead of us. "Summed up Geipel after the first day.

The Rally Saturday started with a strong 3rd overall time on special stage 5. The infamous former IVG ammunition site hosted WP 6. This led over 25 km of angled, moss-and-foliage-covered slab paths, which pose a major threat to tire damage. The team Geipel / Becker-Brugger mastered the first run with a 4th overall time and thus presented the best newcomers of the IVG. "Philip is doing a mega job for his 3rd rally. From the circuit to the rally and now through the IVG area, that's an absolute culture shock for him, "says Katrin Becker-Brugger.

With good speed they drove forward to position 4 of the overall standings and shone in the course of the day with top 3 times in striking distance to the top. Thus, they could defend the position to the finish and collected valuable points for the championship. The current 5th place in the championship shows the potential and promises excitement for the remaining rallies, because they are only 2 points behind 3rd overall.

The next rally will take place on 3rd to 5th October in the Erzgebirge Stollberg and is thus the home game of the team to Kahle Motorsport and Jens Herkommer.
