A rocky road
If you look at YACO Racing's results at the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic last weekend (April 27, – 29, 2018), you will quickly realize the great potential of the team. Twice, Philip Geipel and Rahel Frey were able to move more than ten ranks forward in the second race of this year's ADAC GT Masters. "Unfortunately, that was not enough for points, but just imagine what would be possible if we had started from 19th place. The way back to the fastest riders is very rocky and difficult – but we will not give up!", both drivers commented on this result. "What remains is all the more the clear goal that we have to improve our performance in qualifying", sums up team leader Uwe Geipel. The individual reports:
1st race, Saturday – place 21 (qualifying 34th)
The first run in the Autodrom Most could have started from an acceptable 25th place if it had not been for the penalty from the Sunday race at Oschersleben. As a result, the Audi R8 LMS of YACO Racing had to move ten places to the back starting from the 34th place. An additional drive-through penalty at the beginning of the race caused a further slowing down of the team. In the end, it was the 21st place.
2nd race, Sunday – place 22 (qualifying 33rd)
Day two of the race weekend also started with a poorly promising 33rd place in qualifying. Although the following catch-up hunt brought up some hope for points, in the end, it was only 22nd place. "The weekend was again very difficult for us, but we have learned a lot. There are still some races ahead of us where we can prove ourselves – we continue to fight!", explains Uwe Geipel undaunted.
ADAC TCR Germany – Simon Reicher
While YACO Racing did not score points in the ADAC GT Masters, things looked very different at the ADAC TCR Germany. Simon Reicher twice secured a good starting position in the top ten and finished the race in fourth place on Saturday. Sadly, on Sunday, minor problems with shifting led to seventeenth place finish. Simon Reicher said: "That was a shame, but to win, it just has to go together a lot. We will intensively analyze what was the cause of the error. However, no matter what comes out, the focus is now on my home race at the Red Bull Ring!"
As an official sponsor, the bluechemGROUP congratulates the entire team YACO Racing on the performance. We are curious what the next event will bring! By the way, our bluechemGROUP Audi will also be here, which can be booked for race taxi rides.
